Kodi slow after Windows upgrade?

Yesterday my laptop received the Redstone 3 update and things worked fine. Today i noticed some drivers were being ‘updated’ and made things really bad.

My Intel Graphics driver had been downgraded to some version from 2016… I couldn’t use Kodi on the machine anymore because Kodi thought I didn’t have a DirectX 11 capable graphics card and the CPU went to 100% just showing the default home window.

Providing drivers through Windows is a good idea but it almost never worked for me. Just go to the manufacturer site and look for a recent driver.

For your integrated Intel graphics go to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ and choose Graphics Drivers from the menu on the right.

For your NVIDIA graphics go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx and make sure you choose the right OS from the menu selection. NVIDIA also has an online web-based applet that identifies your GPU and finds the latest graphics driver for your GPU. But lets say it could have found you a driver if you have Java installed and enabled in your browser…

For AMD graphics go to http://support.amd.com/en-us/download and go through the steps to select the correct driver or use the auto detection installer.

To prevent Windows from updating (or downgrading) your drivers you could use the following command in an elevated Command Prompt:

REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /v ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

  1. You actually make it seem really easy with your presentation however I in finding this matter to be really one thing which I believe I would by no means understand. It seems too complicated and very extensive for me. I am having a look ahead to your subsequent put up, I will try to get the hold of it!
