After a teenage girl’s perplexing suicide, a classmate receives a series of tapes that unravel the mystery of her tragic choice.
Thirteen Reasons Why, based on the best-selling books by Jay Asher, follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers a group of cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) -his classmate and crush-who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. Critics Consensus: Why complements its bestselling source material with a gripping look at adolescent grief whose narrative maturity belies its YA milieu.
OMG. Easily the best TV show of 2017. Just go watch it and you will understand why. This is a heartbreaking story about a problem that many schools have. I am not a millennial child and normally really dislike the adult teen genre because 99,9% is stupid but this is the 0,1% that saves the genre for the average viewer.
A while ago I made a post about This Is Us. This show is better. The story line is clear but every episode is will keep you on the edge of your seat because you don’t know what will happen. The acting performances of the kiddo’s are good, just watching Hanna with her range of expressions is wonderful and watching Clay’s struggle with all of this is almost heartbreaking.
This Is Us had problems switching between past time and current time, this show did a simple trick that works excellent. Clay gets a head injury which requires him to wear a bandage for a few episodes and the rest of the show he walks around with a small wound. Hanna goes from short hair to long hair. The result of this is that the viewer immediately in one shot knows if the scene is the ongoing story in current time or a ‘info’ flashback scene. Simply brilliant, just like the rest of this show.
episode runtime is 55 around minutes and you might already guessed it: 13 Reasons, 13 episodes.
Season 2 will launch sometime in 2018.
