I recently watched this movie and was pleasantly surprised. To be honest, I didn’t hear of this movie before watching it. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016 and won the best director award at the Cannes Film Festival that year. This for me isn’t always a stamp for a movie that I want to watch but seeing this movie was well worth it. Solid story and special credits to the soundtrack department. The soundtrack was a perfect fit to match the mood and what you see on the screen.
If you have two spare hours and would like to see a proper life story, go watch it. The film is way underrated and deserves it.
Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, isolated from society, a devoted father (Viggo Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his six young children into extraordinary adults. But when a tragedy strikes the family, they are forced to leave this self-created paradise and begin a journey into the outside world that challenges his idea of what it means to be a parent and brings into question everything he’s taught them.
